Hieroglyphic Writing Systems in the Old Kingdom
A comprehensive study of the evolution of hieroglyphic writing systems from their beginnings in the Old Kingdom, analyzing the symbols and signs used and their religious and political significance.
Hieroglyphic writing is one of the oldest writing systems in the world, appearing in ancient Egypt around 3200 BCE. It consists of more than 700 different signs, including phonetic and ideographic symbols.
In this study, we analyze the evolution of this writing across different Egyptian periods, from the Old Kingdom to the Ptolemaic era, focusing on changes in style and usage.
